FactStack ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. It applies to the website at factstackgame.com and to the FactStack iOS and Android apps.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your chosen username
- Your email address
- Your encrypted password (we never store plain-text passwords)
When you play while signed in, we record:
- The puzzle you played, the date, and whether you played Standard or Hard mode
- Whether you won or lost, and how many attempts you used
- Your streak, statistics, and points for the weekly leaderboard and Hall of Fame
If you play without an account (guest play), we do not store that game on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To display your username and score on the leaderboards
- To track your daily streak and game statistics
- To send a password reset email if you request one
- To maintain your account and prevent abuse
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use your data for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
3. The iOS and Android Apps
The phone apps show the same FactStack game as the website. They load the live game from our servers so the daily puzzle stays up to date.
If you turn on the optional daily reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device at the time you choose. That reminder is stored on your phone only. We do not send push messages from our servers, and we do not receive a copy of your reminder settings.
4. Data Storage
Account and game data for signed-in players is stored in a cloud database. Passwords are hashed before storage. We do not store payment information — FactStack is free to play.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use your device's local storage to keep you logged in, remember appearance (light/dark), remember guest progress for today's puzzle, and remember whether you enabled the daily reminder. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Update your email address or username by contacting us
To delete your account, follow the instructions at factstackgame.com/delete-account or email us at the address below. We will confirm deletion within 7 days.
7. Children
FactStack is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without consent, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
